Sharon Harden holds a Master of Music Education Degree in Piano Pedagogy from the University of Central Oklahoma. While pursuing this degree, Sharon worked as the Graduate Teaching Assistant for UCO’s Piano Division. From the same university, Sharon holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. Since graduating from UCO, Sharon earned a teaching license in K-12 Vocal Music.
During her undergraduate studies, Sharon assisted UCO faculty in evaluating the class piano curriculum based on moveable-DO solfege. Under the direction of the UCO School of Music and the Oklahoma Center for Arts Education, she served as Registrar and managed the Central Community Music School as well as programmed school visits for the UCO Music Outreach Program. During spring 2010, she was honored to be awarded with Pi Kappa Lambda membership.
During her time in Oklahoma, Sharon accompanied the Edmond Community Chorale, a UCO Voice Class, as well as vocal and instrumental music majors. As an organist, she served at Faith Bible Church for four years. For several semesters, she accompanied, conducted, and co-directed a children’s musical theater.
Piano teachers include Dr. David Forbat, Dr. Chindarat Charoenwongse-Shaw, Dr. Leslie Sisterhen-McAllister, and Peggy Spence. Valery Kuleshov taught Sharon during UCO Masterclasses. Organ instructors include Dr. Leon Whitesell and Ron Wallace.
With fifteen years of teaching experience, Sharon currently works as an independent piano teacher in Northwest Arkansas. Sharon and her students make regular performances throughout the community. Sharon is currently accepting new students ages four to eighteen.
Sharon is a member of MTNA, the Music Teachers' National Association. Her students participate in local MTNA festivals.
